Fractional Leadership

Senior growth leadership, without the full-time hire.

Get senior judgment now, without the cost of a full-time executive or the months it takes to hire one.

What changed

Execution got cheaper. Judgment didn't.

AI now handles a growing share of the execution: targeting, bidding, first drafts, reporting. What it can't do is decide what matters, set the plan, and hold the team and the vendors to it.

That's the scarce thing now. And most brands don't need it forty hours a week. They need it at the right depth, from someone who has done the job, starting this month instead of after a long search.

One page, three roles

Pick the depth you need

Hours sit next to every price. The CMO starts lower than the Growth Lead because it starts as advisory. The Growth Lead is hands-on.

Fractional CMO
Owns the plan
Starts at $3,000/moStrategy and advisory
5 to 10 hours a week
What they own

The growth plan, budget allocation, team and agency direction, and board and exec reporting.

A typical week

A leadership call, a review of channel and agency performance, async strategy feedback, and a monthly board-ready update.

Who it's for

Brands with a team or agencies doing the work, and no senior owner of the plan.

Going deeper

Execution oversight and day-to-day team management are quoted on a call.

Fractional Growth Lead
Runs the number
Starts at $8,000/moHands-on
1 to 2 days a week
What they own

Acquisition and conversion targets, week to week, across the channels and the funnel.

A typical week

Account and funnel reviews, test launches, budget moves, and a weekly readout on the numbers.

Who it's for

Teams with a CMO or founder setting direction, and nobody running the number week to week.

Going deeper

More days a week, or direct channel management, are quoted on a call.

Talk about a Growth Lead
Fractional Creative Strategist
Decides what to make
Starts at $5,000/moHands-on
About 1 day a week
What they own

Angles, briefs, the testing roadmap and creative-level reporting.

A typical week

A read on what's working at the creative level, new briefs, and next week's tests planned.

Who it's for

Brands with production capacity, in-house or creators, and no one setting creative strategy.

Going deeper

Higher creative volume or production management is quoted on a call.

Talk about a Strategist

Every account is different. Your price depends on scope and how involved you need us to be, from strategic guidance to fully hands-on. Each price above is the starting level of involvement. Deeper involvement is scoped on a call. Performance-based terms are available for higher-involvement scopes, quoted on a call.

The honest comparison

Fractional vs. full-time vs. agency

Each one is right for someone. Here's how they differ.

FactorFractionalFull-time hireAgency
CostPart-time, sized to the depth you needA full senior salary, plus benefits and often equityA retainer, usually tied to channels or spend
Speed to startWeeksOften months of searching and onboardingWeeks
AccountabilityTo you, for the plan and the numberTo you, fully dedicatedTo the scope of work you signed

If you need a leader in the room every day, hire full time. Fractional is often the bridge while you search, or the right answer if you never needed forty hours in the first place.

FAQ

Fractional, answered

How much does a fractional CMO cost?

Ours starts at $3,000 a month for strategy and advisory, about 5 to 10 hours a week. Hands-on roles cost more because they take more time: a Fractional Growth Lead starts at $8,000 a month for 1 to 2 days a week. Deeper involvement, like managing your team day to day, is scoped on a call.

How many hours a week?

It depends on the role. A Fractional CMO starts at 5 to 10 hours a week of strategy and advisory. A Creative Strategist is about one day a week, and a Growth Lead is one to two days a week. We agree the time up front and adjust as your needs change.

Fractional CMO vs. agency?

An agency executes inside the channels it's hired for. A fractional CMO owns the overall plan, the budget split and accountability across every team and vendor, agencies included. Plenty of brands use both, with the fractional leader setting direction and holding the agencies to it.

Can you manage our existing agencies?

Yes. It's one of the most common reasons to bring in a fractional CMO. We set the targets, review their work against the plan, and give you a straight read on who's delivering. Day-to-day agency management is a deeper scope, quoted on a call.

Is there a minimum commitment?

No. It's month to month, with no lock-in. We'd suggest giving it about 90 days, since that's how long it takes to set a plan, run it and read the results. Longer commitments earn a discount on the monthly fee.

Can this turn into a full-time role?

Sometimes. More often, a fractional leader sets up the plan and the team, then helps you hire the right full-time person and hands over. Either way, you're never locked in.
